Effective 8:00 a.m. Thursday, May 11th, 2023 weight restrictions will be lifted on all state trunkline highways for the 2023 season.

Effective 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 26th, 2023 weight restrictions will be lifted on all state trunkline highways from the southern Michigan border north to and including US-2/US-141 at the Menominee River bridge west of Iron Mountain then east on US-2 to St. Ignace, then north on I-75 to the M-134 interchange then east on M-134 and including all of Drummond Island. Frost restrictions are still in effect for the remainder of the state and will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways north of US-2/M-134 line and on M-185 on Mackinac Island.

State trunkline highways typically carry M, I, or US designations. Weight restriction information and updates may be obtained by calling 1-800-787-8960. For companies located in Canada or New Jersey, information may be obtained by calling 517-335-0023.

- On routes designated as "All Season Routes" (green or gold on the MDOT Truck Operators Map) there will be no reduction in legal axle weight.

- On routes designated as "Seasonal" (solid or dashed red on the MDOT Truck Operators Map) there will be a weight reduction of 25% for rigid pavements and 35% for flexible pavements.

Extended permits will be valid for oversize only in the weight restricted area.

Single trip permits will not be issued for overweight loads or loads exceeding 14 feet in width, 11 axles and 150 feet in overall length in the weight restricted area.

Effective 6:00 am Monday, March 27th, 2023 weight restrictions will be lifted on all state trunkline highways from the southern Michigan border north to and including US-10 from the intersection of M-116 in the City of Ludington, Mason County easterly to US-127 in Clare County, then north to M-61 in Clare County then east on M-61 to the intersection of US-23 in City of Standish, Arenac County and including the entire thumb area.

Highways south of a line on M-55 from the US-31 intersection in Manistee County east to M-66 in Missaukee County then north on M-66 to M-55 in Missaukee County then east on M-55 to the intersection of US-23 in City of Tawas, Iosco County.

Effective 6:00 am Friday, February 24th, 2023 weight restrictions will be imposed and enforced on all state trunk line highways within an area of Michigan described as follows:

Highways north of a line on M-43 in the City of South Haven, then east on M-43 to US-131 in Kalamazoo County, then south on US-131 to I-94 in Kalamazoo County then east on I-94 to I-69 in Calhoun County, then north on I-69 to I-96 in Lansing then east on I-96 to M-59 in Livingston County then continuing east on M-59 ending at the I-94 interchange in Macomb County.

Highways south of a line on M-55 from the US-31 intersection in Manistee County east to M-66 in Missaukee County then north on M-66 to M-55 in Missaukee County then east on M-55 to the intersection of US-23 in City of Tawas, Iosco County.

All state trunk lines between these two lines will have weight restrictions imposed and enforced.
