Spring Weight Restriction Bulletin #10

Effective Monday, May 13, 2019, 6 a.m., weight restrictions will be lifted on all state trunkline highways within the entire state of Michigan.

Weight Restrictions are implemented during the spring frost thaw period and are now completed for the 2019 season. A typical timeframe for Spring Weight Restrictions is during the months of February thru May. Specific dates will be determined by weather and road conditions and posted again when the 2020 season starts.

Title: Spring Weight Restriction Bulletin #9 #9

Date: 04/29/2019

Effective Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 6 a.m., weight restrictions will be lifted on all state trunkline highways from the southern Michigan border north to and including US-2 from Iron Mountain to St. Ignace. Frost restrictions are still in effect for the remainder of the state and will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways north of US-2 and M-185 on Mackinac Island.

State trunk line highways typically carry M, I, or US designations. Weight restriction information and updates may be obtained by calling 1-800-787-8960. For companies located in Canada or New Jersey, information may be obtained by calling 517-335-0023.

- On routes designated as "All Season Routes" (green or gold on the MDOT Truck Operators Map) there will be no reduction in legal axle weight.

- On routes designated as "Seasonal" (solid or dashed red on the MDOT Truck Operators Map) there will be a weight reduction of 25% for rigid pavements and 35% for flexible pavements.

Extended permits will be valid for oversize only in the weight restricted area.

Single trip permits will not be issued for overweight loads or loads exceeding 14 feet in width, 11 axles and 150 feet in overall length in the weight restricted area.

Effective Friday, April 26, 2019, 6 a.m., weight restrictions will be lifted on all state trunkline highways from the southern Michigan border north to the Mackinac Bridge. Frost restrictions are still in effect for the remainder of the state and will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways north of the Mackinac Bridge.

State trunk line highways typically carry M, I, or US designations. Weight restriction information and updates may be obtained by calling 1-800-787-8960. For companies located in Canada or New Jersey, information may be obtained by calling 517-335-0023.

- On routes designated as "All Season Routes" (green or gold on the MDOT Truck Operators Map) there will be no reduction in legal axle weight.

Title: Spring Weight Restriction #7 #7

Date: 04/22/2019

Effective Monday, April 22, 2019, 6 a.m., weight restrictions will be lifted on all state trunkline highways from the southern Michigan border north to and including M-72 from the interchange with M-22, in the Village of Empire, Leelanau County, then east on M-72 to US-131 in the Village of Kalkaska then south on US-131 to the south junction with M-72 then east on M-72 ending at US-23 in the City of Harrisville, Alcona County. . Frost restrictions are still in effect for the remainder of the state and will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways north of the M-72 line.

State trunk line highways typically carry M, I, or US designations. Weight restriction information and updates may be obtained by calling 1-800-787-8960. For companies located in Canada or New Jersey, information may be obtained by calling 517-335-0023.

Effective Monday, April 15, 2019, 6 a.m., weight restrictions will be lifted on all state trunkline highways from the southern Michigan border north to and including M-20 from the interchange with US-31, Oceana County, East on M-20 to US-131, North on US-131 to M-20, Mecosta County, East on M-20 to US-10, Midland County, East on US-10 to M-25 in Bay City and including the entire thumb area.. Frost restrictions are still in effect for the remainder of the state and will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways north of the M-20, US-10 line.

Effective Monday, April 8, 2019 at 6:00 AM, weight restrictions will be lifted from the southern Michigan border north to and including I-96 at the interchange  of US-31, in the city of Muskegon, Muskegon County, then east on I-96 to I-69 in Clinton County, then continuing east on I-69 ending at the Blue Water Bridge in the city of Port Huron, St. Clair County. Frost restrictions are still in effect for the remainder of the state and will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways north of the I-96, I-69 line.

State trunk line highways typically carry M, I, or US designations. Weight restriction information and updates may be obtained by calling 1-800-787-8960. For companies located in Canada or New Jersey, information may be obtained by calling 517-335-0023.

Effective Monday, April 1st, 2019 at 6:00 AM, weight restrictions will be lifted from the southern Michigan border north to M-43, in the city of South Haven, Van Buren County, then east on M-43 to US-131 in Kalamazoo County, then south on US-131 in Kalamazoo County to I-94 then continuing east on I-94 ending at the interchange of M-102 in the city of Harper Woods, Wayne County. Frost restrictions are still in effect for the remainder of the state and will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways north of the M-43, US-131, I-94 line.

State trunk line highways typically carry M, I, or US designations. Weight restriction information and updates may be obtained by calling 1-800-787-8960. For companies located in Canada or New Jersey, information may be obtained by calling 517-335-0023.

Effective 6:00am Monday, March 11th, 2019 weight restrictions will be imposed and enforced on all state trunk line highways from the Michigan/Indiana & Ohio line north to and including M-20 from the intersection of US-31 in Oceana County easterly to US-131 in Mecosta County, then north on US-131 to M-20, then continuing east on M-20 to US-127 in Isabella County, then north on US-127 to M-61 in Clare County, then east on M-61 to the intersection of US-23 in City of Standish, Arenac County.
